Acupuncture and Cranio-Sacral Therapy for Children

Acupuncture and Cranio-Sacral work can be real gifts to your children and their immune systems, whether they are experiencing acute illness, distress, chronic issues, or even to maintain good health. Both forms of treatment can help in diseases where other forms of medicine are not effective. Both are safe and non-invasive compared to medications and surgeries, and are free of the weakening effects of drugs. And, both are curative and holistic, rather than symptomatic or palliative.

Getting sick is part of being a kid. A newborn, if healthy, has a body that has not been challenged yet. During the first 12 years or so, as your child's body grows and matures, it is exposed to environmental influences. Sometimes your child develops fevers or other expectatory reactions (like coughs) in response to these influences. These reactions are your child's body's natural way of fighting unhealthy bacteria and viruses. Allowing the body to fight illnesses through these natural mechanisms helps to build and strengthening its immune system.

If the body's journey through childhood is successful, the occurrence of illness lessens because the immune system develops an ability to respond quickly and eliminate potentially harmful influences.

The success of this journey depends on a number of things. Of course, healthy food, an active lifestyle, tender love and care, and plenty of rest are a few keys. And, when your child does get sick, your child's body will need support in dealing with and getting rid of unwanted intruders. Acupuncture and Cranio-Sacral work can be highly beneficial in this way. Both forms of treatment facilitate and boost the body's ability to overcome illness or injury and heal.

Sometimes, if an illness is too violent for your child's body to handle, your child may need to take medicine or undergo medical procedures. Acupuncture and Cranio-Sacral work are great adjuncts because they help your child deal with the side-effects of these more invasive treatments and experience less distress.

When the body's journey through childhood is not so successful, it stores some of the environmental influences it has encountered. These stored up influences can turn into chronic, lingering illnesses or issues as your child moves into adulthood, at which point they become very resilient to treatment.

Because we depend on it so much, a strong immune system is critical. A healthy one will serve your child for an entire lifetime. Acupuncture and Cranio-Sacral work are a wonderful investment in your child's immune system and their future health.

Children benefit greatly from Acupuncture and Cranio-Sacral work when:

  • They experience everyday illnesses such as the common cold, a cough, diarrhea, or gastrointestinal discomfort, for support in the healing process.
  • They have to go through a treatment of antibiotics or other strong medication, to deal with negative side-effects.
  • They have chronic or recurring illnesses
such as: ear infections, asthma, indigestion, eczema, diaper rash, or urethritis, to help get to the root of such problems.
  • They have constitutional or developmental difficulties such as: dyslexia, ADD or ADHD, learning difficulties, or autism, to help the energy flow more evenly.

Rates and Fees

First Visit: One-hour appointment $90

Follow-up Visits: $50

I believe that no child that needs treatment should be deprived of it, so rates can be discussed.

Parent Comments

"Our precious grandson has been diagnosed with Asperger's Syndrome. He is often extremely hyper and wild, and he has difficulty calming enough at night to sleep. Ursula's treatments have made a vast difference in his behavior; all of our friends have commented on the change! He can fall asleep in five minutes now, and that is a blessing for all of us. During the treatments, especially the Cranio-Sacral treatments, there is a visible calming, and he practically purrs. Ursula truly has healing hands and a special love for children."

"My grandson, Matthew, was one year old in late November of 2001. Since that time, he has been ill with fevers and ear infections. After a 2-3 week bout of fevers, at which time he took antibiotics and had an allergic reaction to 2 of them, I decided to begin acupuncture treatments with Ursula Popp.

"Following two treatments, his fever was gone and he seemed well for a while. We continued treatments...in spite of which he once again began an ear infection. We are continuing the acupuncture in order that he build his immune system and be able to lessen his chances with infections.

"Ursula is an excellent acupuncturist. Her specialty is children and she works with them wonderfully. Even though she uses needles on Matthew, he follows her into the treatment room with delight."
